Real Estate Agent vs Realtor | What's the Difference

Deborah here, your Nashville real estate expert, helping you navigate the Nashville market. So what's the difference between a real estate agent and a realtor?

You probably hear those two terms used interchangeably. And a lot of times, they may mean the same thing. But there is a difference between a real estate agent and a realtor.

The difference is that real estate agents who are also realtors have agreed to abide by a certain code of ethics. There are rules that realtors have agreed to follow when representing you as a client and the general public.

We abide by the code of ethics that is taken very seriously when we represent you as a realtor because we have agreed to do things a little bit differently than an agent would do.

If you tell me something and ask that it be kept confidential, then it is kept confidential unless there's another agreement in place. For example, let's say you're a buyer and you're working with a realtor. You may not want that realtor to tell the seller your actual budget.

The quality, level of trust, integrity, and overall ethics that we have agreed to follow, is what sets a realtor apart from a real estate agent. If you're looking for an expert realtor in Nashville, give me a call or text 615-335-0770.
